I am a family doctor in Toronto, Canada, with a keen lifelong interest in creative writing, journalism, and memoir. I am particularly engaged in the field of narrative medicine, using narrative principles to reflect on and inform my clinical work.
I grew up in small towns in Atlantic Canada, and have worked in a range of clinical settings across four Canadian provinces. I feel privileged to have collected the extraordinary stories of people and places along the way.
I’m also grateful to have had opportunities to work in newspaper journalism, with short stints writing for The Coast Guard community newspaper and The Irish Medical Times, and to study literature and philosophy as part of the University of King’s College Foundation Year Programme in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I am pleased to be the pilot participant in the University of Toronto Temerty School of Medicine Narrative Based Medicine mentorship program! https://narrativebasedmedicine.ca/
In my clinical work, I am passionate about the care of vulnerable groups, Indigenous health, and care of the elderly.
Thanks for your interest!
